An easy way to grow your own healthy food is to start sprouting seeds. Seed sprouting produces healthy greens within a few days, and requires very little space or equipment. Alfalfa sprouts are one of the many kinds of plants you can sprout and eat. They provide a high amount of fiber, vitamin A, B, E and K. They are also a good source of protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, carotene and chlorophyll.

Sprouting jar
Step 1
Add 2 tablespoons of alfalfa sprouting seeds to your sprouting jar. Make sure the lid has a fine mesh screen that won’t allow the seeds to escape from the jar.
Step 2
Rinse your seeds with cool water, and then drain the water thoroughly from the seeds. Fill the jar with lukewarm water, and set it in a dark location at room temperature for 24 hours.
Step 3
Drain the water from your seeds after 24 hours. Rinse your seeds again with cool water, and drain the water thoroughly from the seeds to prevent spoilage.
Step 4
Repeat the rinsing and draining of water from your seeds twice a day until the sprouts reach the length you desire.
Step 5
Rinse your sprouts a final time. Drain the water completely from the sprouts, and store them in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them.
